Terms of Service

Working draft. This is a plain-language draft for product development and has not yet been reviewed by an attorney. It is not the final, binding Terms of Service and should be replaced with counsel-reviewed language before launch.

1. What MoveMatch is

MoveMatch operates an online platform that connects customers seeking moving services with independent, third-party moving companies ("Movers"). MoveMatch is a booking and facilitation platform. MoveMatch does not perform moves, does not employ Movers, and is not a moving company, carrier, or broker of household goods beyond facilitating introductions and bookings.

2. Accounts

You can request an estimate without an account. To book a move you will create an account and agree to these Terms. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for activity under your account.

3. Quotes and pricing

Estimated prices shown before booking are estimates based on the details you provide and are not guaranteed. The final price is confirmed when a Mover accepts your job. You will see the price you are agreeing to before you pay, and MoveMatch will not charge more than that amount without your consent.

4. Payments and platform fee

Customers pay MoveMatch for booked moves by card. MoveMatch retains a platform fee and remits the remaining amount to the assigned Mover, typically after the move is completed. Payment processing is handled by Stripe; MoveMatch does not store full card numbers.

5. Cancellations and refunds

Cancellation terms are presented before you book and depend on how close the cancellation is to the scheduled move date. Eligible refunds are returned to your original payment method. (Specific cancellation windows and fees will be finalized here.)

6. Mover responsibilities

Movers are independent service providers responsible for the moving service, their crew, trucks, labor, and equipment; for maintaining valid licensing and insurance; and for handling and resolving damage claims through their own claims process and insurance.

7. Damage and claims

If items are damaged during a move, you must file a claim directly with the assigned Mover using the Mover's claims process and within the Mover's stated time window. MoveMatch may help facilitate communication and provide the Mover's claim contact and instructions, but the Mover is responsible for the moving service and any damage claims. MoveMatch is not responsible for damage to, or loss of, your items.

8. Your acknowledgments

By booking, you acknowledge that: MoveMatch is a booking platform and does not perform the move; the assigned Mover is responsible for the moving service; damage claims are filed through the assigned Mover's claims process; and you agree to these Terms and the Privacy Policy.

9. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The platform is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, MoveMatch disclaims warranties and is not liable for the acts, omissions, or performance of Movers, or for indirect or consequential damages. (Final liability terms subject to legal review.)

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated, and the "last updated" date below will change. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
